Corona Virus (CO-VID 19) Information and Resources from New York City
As of March 13, 2020, both New Dawn Charter Schools are open and in session. In this time, we would like to provide our parents and families with helpful information about the virus, precautions you can take to stay healthy, and support our community.
Brooklyn and Jamaica schools will be closing at 2:00 p.m. for professional development and thorough cleaning of both facilities for the next 48 hours. Check back frequently for updates and information as it is on-going.
Remember, we are in this together and owe it to everyone to practice safe hygiene, self-care, and we are here to maintain a healthy environment, physically and mentally.
Recommendations as we continue as a community:
Wash your hands with soap and water for a minimum of 20 seconds.
Cover your mouth when you cough, sneeze, or yawn.
If any of your students or family members are known to be ill or have symptoms described in the attachments, please be sure to stay home. Absences are not being affected in New York City for students.
It is all of our responsibility to limit exposure, but also to be realistic and compassionate about those around us.

Message from our Executive Director - Schools Re-Opening Update
Message from Executive Director
For release August 7, 2020:
Good afternoon all, I hope you are all well. I'm sure you have heard that school will be reopening in the fall. I wanted to let the community know that we are working on scheduling right now. I understand that many students and family are still concerned about students returning to the classroom. Therefore, we are devising a plan where each student will come to the school on specific days of the week and continue remote learning on the other days. We simply do not have space to social distance ensuring that all students and staff are safe by being in the building at the same time. We are planning to have Zoom meetings with parents next Tuesday, Aug. 11, Wednesday, Aug. 12, and Thursday, Aug. 13 in order to get feedback from the community. We will also be conducting surveys to determine whether your student has access to technology and how comfortable you are with your student returning to school.
I hope you will all be able to join us. As usual, you can always reach out to any staff through Jupiter or personal contacts.
