Internship Program

Students with more than 10 credits work in the community. As part of a holistic educational approach, the Internship Program at New Dawn provides students with the essential job readiness training and leadership development opportunities needed to transition into a successful career pathway of their choice. In addition to this personal discovery for our students, New Dawn also aims for its students to build long term professional connections and contacts and develop career related skills such as critical thinking, teamwork, time management, problem solving, communication and professionalism.

Internship Training Sessions

All students must successfully master the skills related internship and career readiness topics as a prerequisite to professional placement. These topics include, but are not limited to: policies and procedures for internships, team building, career exploration, soft skills, resume development, and interview skills.

Student Supervision

During the experience, students are engaged in a structured and meaningful career learning environment.  Students are supervised, supported, evaluated, trained and given productive assignments throughout the process by internship supervisors. The Internship staff conducts monthly visits to all internship placements to follow up on student performance and learning.

Performance Evaluation

At the conclusion of their internship experience, students are given a formal evaluation from their supervisors. The evaluation provides feedback with regards to the student’s overall performance throughout the internship in areas such as communication, appearance, professionalism, knowledge/use of relevant technology, and attendance.
